Teach The Babies

"... to kick the truth to the YOUNG BLACK YOUTH..."

What's the hip hop world coming to? 6 minutes into this video, a young girl says, as children and fans of rap music, they don't even listen to the lyrics anymore. All they care about is the beat. Damn.

It's Your Baby...... Maybe

Comedian/Actor Mike Epps has been asked to take a paternity test by a Georgia woman who claims the star is the father of her 4-month-old baby.

According to TMZ, the unnamed woman pointed to a married Epps in legal filings last month, asking that he take the test and recognizes her child as his own.

We are not asking for the moon, we are just asking him to take a paternity test," the woman's lawyer Randy Kessler told TMZ. "Once the tests are completed and paternity is confirmed, hopefully, Mr. Epps will do the right thing and begin to provide for his child."

Kessler also said that the only reason his client went public with the suit is because her repeated phone calls and emails to Epps and his attorneys were ignored.

Epps, 37, has been married to wife Michelle McCain since 2006 and unfortunately the two have no children together. What a shame if he did father a child with another woman.

I got an interesting message from one of my FACEBOOK friends last nite.  And it goes a lil' somethin' like theeeeeeeeisss

Hi Rahsaan! I know it's been forever since we have talked.

I called you tonight because I wanted to tell you how I went to my girl's blog only to find the pic of you from Time magazine as the main pic on her page. I sent her a message and told her that I knew you and asked if she knew you, or if she just liked the pic. She said she googled rope chains and your pic came up. She thought the pic was dope and liked how it didn't really show a face. So, just thought it was interesting and figured you might want to check out her page. I guess this all just comes with being famous :-)

That pic of me was brilliantly shot only showing me from the nose down. It was the headline pic in a Hip Hop article in TIME magazine last summer. To read the actual article, click -----> A Fly Guy in TIME

Weezy F. Baby

I was doin ' some YouTubin' earlier today, and came across this footage of Lil Wayne performing (sort of) in London recently. Watch closely around one minute into the clip when an impatient concert goer gets fed up of waiting for Wayne to start rockin' and decides to throw a bottle at the kid.

"...start with straight shots and then pop bottles..." (fyi, Jadakiss is the originator of that line)

Ask A Fly Guy # 4 - I Used to Love H.E.R.

Dear Fly Guy,

So, as I sit on the brink of my 30th birthday I'm starting to look at life in a COMPLETELY different light. And a huge part of my life is my music and children. As a single mother of two young girls (5 and 11 yrs. old), I have to be very leery of what I have playing around my girls. I'm an avid fan of hip hop - always have been. However, lately I've found that everything from the image, to the whack/imitating artists to the lackluster lyrics have left a lot to be desired for the up and coming generation. My eldest is reaching a stage where I want her to establish her own personal favorite artists and start building her own collection. And as much as I want to let her run free in Best Buy, down the aisles of the "new releases", I find myself over her shoulder with a disapproving look on my face because of the messages, or lack thereof, in these albums. I've found that artists have not only lost sight of delivering a "message" - I don't think it was the intention of over half of them to deliver one in the first place. I find that they're more interested in the superficial benefits of getting on the mic - than the TRUE reason they were gifted that platform from the Creator in the first place. I'm just wondering, in your experience mingling and interacting with the industry to the extent that you have - is all lost for hip hop lyricism? Where is the passion...the dignity? Will my daughters be left to the "Yaaaah Trick Yaaah" songs?
HELP!!!

Signed,
Pushing 30

Dear Pushing 30,

I feel your pain. Hip Hop still has the same message; it's just gotten lost in the translation. Most of us who consider ourselves artists still come from nothing, and try to make something out of it. The problem is, there's no creativity anymore. The cleverness of MC'n has been all but forgotten. Don't get me wrong, there are still those witty artists out there that continue to push the envelope of creativity, however; they're just not the majority anymore. I commend you for being a true believer in the preservation of Hip Hop culture but I cringe at the thought of who your daughters are gonna grow up listening to. Hip Hop has more influence over the youth now than it ever has. I am a conspiracy theorist, so I have my own reasoning as to why today's popular music is what it is. There's an underlying plot, I believe. But that's a whole other type of discussion. The lyricism in Hip Hop still exists. Look at this way, Hip Hop is a global thing. Thankfully, the rest of the world are still Hip Hop purists at heart and keep artists like Talib Kweli and Pharaoh Monch, who are both supreme lyricits, relevant today. Remember when our parents used to hear the stuff we were listening to when we were kids? The Snoop Doggs, The Salt N Pepa's, The KRS One's...and they would be like, what's all that rah rah rah noise you listening to? That ain't music. Then they start to play their Smokey Robinson, and Temptations, Anita Baker, and such... You might have to have a history lesson of sorts with your daughters. School them to the Hip Hop we grew up on. Make them aware so that at least they have a sense of where the culture came from and how it has evolved. Do remember, life itself is about balance. You can't have a yin without a yang; meaning, if there was no Yaah Trick Yaahh, artists like Common, Scarface, and Nas wouldn't be as refreshing and appreciated as they are today.

I Used To Love H.E.R. too.

A Fly Guy's Magazine Article - God's Gift

It's been a minute. Had to situate some things and reorganize some things but I'm back on track. There's a new article just posted about me yesterday on hiphopassociation.org
And it goes a little somethin' like thissssss

words by: Carrie Hughley-Lecompte

Known as God’s Favorite Rapper in the underground community Rahsaan has truly made an impression in the hip hop community through his candid demeanor and audacious lyrics. I asked him, “What sets you apart from other rap artists in the game?” He says, “What makes me different from other rap artist is that I bridge the gap between commercial marketability and artistic substance.” I had the opportunity of speaking briefly with Rahsaan at one of his shows.

Ask A Fly Guy #3 - School Dayze

Dear Fly Guy

I'm 20 and I live at home with my mom. I work part-time and I go to school full-time. I buy all of my own clothes, I help out around the house financially when I can, and I barely EVER ask my mom for money. My school is rather inexpensive and I've gotten through most of my schooling on scholarships. Recently my mom has been complaining about how I'm causing her to not have a life and that she's bothered that she's paying for my schooling. I'm irritated because I never asked her to pay for school and I hate that she's making me regret even going. My mom won't let me talk to her about any of this. Should I take out a loan to pay for the rest of school on my own or let her talk shit while she pays? What do you see as my consequences for either choice?

Oh yea... and she's driving me completely crazy.

Thank you.

Signed,
Broke College Student at Home

Dear Broke at Home,

How important is your education to you?  Are you the kind of person that folds in the face of a little adversity, or do you say to yourself that no matter what or who stands in your way, you will continue to strive and achieve the goals you have set forth for yourself?  I think you should sit your mother down and have a heart to heart with her.  I know sometimes things like that are easier said than done, especially if one of the parties involved is not an advocate of discussing things.  However, we are talking about your future here.  Education is paramount.   The job market is diminishing, and that piece of paper is still proven to be a boost.  So if you are blessed with the opportunity to get a higher learning, then you must do whatever is necessary to continue to stay on that path.  By law, once you turned 18, your mother was free of all obligations of taking care of you; however, it does seem slightly odd that she would have a gripe about paying for you to receive an education.  Most parents throw fits because their children do not want to attend school.  Nevertheless, in my opinion, if your mother doesn't want to continue to pay for your schooling, then apply for financial aid, take out a loan, or whatever else you need to do.  This will show your mother another level of your independence and make it apparent that you no longer need her assistance.  In fact, she may be more of a hinderance to you by creating unnecessary stresses that may play a detriment to your studies.
I've always been a bit rebellious myself, and I get a kick out of showing people I don't need their help as much as they think I do.  Now, the consequences of taking out a loan are obvious.  Loans have to be paid back.  And many young adults spend much of there post scholastic days in debt because of school loans they took out.  The way the equation works is you take out a loan to go to a school where you can study a particular field.  Then you graduate with the highest honors possible so that you can secure yourself a high-paying job that will make the torment of paying your loan off not seem so suffocating.  It doesn't always work out that smoothly, however.  The other consequence of letting your mother continue to pay for school when she doesn't want to should be just as obvious.  She may eventually just stop contributing and force you to fend for yourself; thus placing you right back into Consequence #1.  It may be more gratifying to you to beat your mother to the punch by being proactive and creating your own resolution to your dilemma.   And not to worry, stay in school and keep striving and you won't have to be a Broke Student at Home for much longer

Song of The Week

I wasn't emotionally stable enough to record more than one verse for this song, but I posted it anyway.  F*ck it.

Getting Over

Ask A Fly Guy #2 - Sexual Addiction

Dear Fly Guy,

How do I know if I have a sex addiction? I ask this because I have been known to be promiscuous.  I sleep around with different women.  I have a history of mistreating them; disregarding their emotions.  I make them get emotionally attached to me, and before long, I do something to push them away.   Some come back, some are gone forever.  I won't get into all the details about what I've done with these women that have pushed them to HATE me, but I will say that the hatred is justifiable.  It's amazing the hurt and distrust I can create in someone and show little no concern about anything beyond my own orgasm.  Why do I act this way?  A friend of mine told me I was addicted to sex.  But that doesn't make any sense.  Sex isn't a drug, or alcohol, or nicotine.  How can I be addicted to it?  I can't even look at myself in the mirror anymore.  I'm disgusted.  I wanna run off into the wilderness or somewhere far far away.  How can I get pass this inability to be faithful to one woman, or at least practice safer habits?  I ain't shit.  And the more I analyze things I've done recently, the more apparent that fact becomes.  I'm almost certain there is no mending that can be done with the friend/relationships I have damaged.   But how can I make a change to ensure that I don't continue with this same despicable behavior going forward?  If I am a sex addict, where do I get help?  Because I know I NEED IT.

Signed,
So Ashamed

Dear So Ashamed,

This particular topic is a little difficult for me to advise you on; thus I researched some information that may prove helpful to you. But first, you need to be well aware of the error in your ways. Speaking as a man that has also had quite a few women scream I HATE YOU to him before, it's very unbecoming as a "MAN" to continue to treat women the way you have been. I'm not sure if you have some kind of emotional issue, or perhaps you experienced a psychological trauma that mentally makes you disregard anything and everyone except for yourself. As far as sexual addictions, here is some information I found. Analyze and see if anything you read sounds familiar about your character.

1. WHAT IS SEX ADDICTION?
Sex addiction is a way some people medicate their feelings and/or cope with their stresses to the degree that their sexual behavior becomes their major coping mechanism for stresses in their life. The individual often can not stop this sexual behavior for any great length of time by themselves. The sex addict spends a lot of time in the pursuit of his or her sexual behavior/fantasy or they may have a binge of sexual behaviors.

2. WHY DO PEOPLE BECOME SEXUALLY ADDICTED?
This is different for every sex addict but generally speaking there are biological, psychological, and spiritual reasons. The following is a short explanation of each reason why someone can become a sex addict. The biological addict is someone who has conditioned their body to receive endorphins and enkephlines (brain chemicals) primarily through reinforcing a fantasy state with the ejaculation that provides these chemicals to their brain. Psychologically, the need to medicate or escape physical, emotional or sexual abuse can demand a substance, the early addict finds the sex medicine usually before alcohol or drugs. Spiritually, a person is filling up the God hole in them with their sexual addiction. The addiction is their spirituality, it comforts them, celebrates them and is always available and present. Then there is the sex addict who can be two or even three of the above reasons. This is why a specialist in sex addiction is the best route for recovery with sex addiction.

Now, there is a lot more information where this came from. I think you should take a moment out of your day and throughly read through the rest of this information. For the entire breakdown of Sexual Addiction, click here. Don't hesitate to call the number provided either. Hope the information helps and you're able to change your ways for the better. Good luck.
